Voter Registrations – July 17

Hi everybody. Here is a message from Jeremy Byrd, OFA Washington:

“The weekend of July 17th, OFA volunteers across the country will be registering people to vote as part of our July 17th Day of Action.

They’ll be gathering on street corners, at coffee shops, and in playgrounds and parks, asking people who walk by a simple question: “Are you registered to vote in the fall?”

It’s a question that could have profound implications in the coming elections. And we need you to make sure it gets asked.

We’ve accomplished a lot in just the last 17 months, but there’s still much left to do. In 2008, voter registration and turnout was key to our victory, with more than 15 million new voters entering the political process. Now, in 2010, voter registration will be key to ensuring that President Obama has as many congressional allies as possible next year.

And, for us at OFA, that means making the July 17th Day of Action as big as possible.”
