Here in Center City-Philly, we did our part, reminding folks about the mid term election and the importance of bringing all Democrats to the poll on Nov 2d. Want to be part of a fun afternoon? Join us in Old City on First Friday, at the corner of Church and 2d St, from 5-9PM. We will have a table to register voters and pass out information about the Democratic candidates. See the picture of Pam Buckner, on the First Friday event of July.

Great news in Philadelphia:

OFA, the Sestak and the Onorato campaigns are joining forces (staff and volunteers, events and resources) for a combined campaign “PA Vote 2010″ to get all Democrats out to vote on November 2d. Come and be part of it!

So, I am moving my weekly phone bank to the Onorato office, 1937 Chestnut Street (myBO link). As you will see on MyBO, there is phone banking there every day, as well as in the Sestak office, 2013 Sansom Street

“The weekend of July 17th, OFA volunteers across the country will be registering people to vote as part of our July 17th Day of Action.

They’ll be gathering on street corners, at coffee shops, and in playgrounds and parks, asking people who walk by a simple question: “Are you registered to vote in the fall?”

It’s a question that could have profound implications in the coming elections. And we need you to make sure it gets asked.

We’ve accomplished a lot in just the last 17 months, but there’s still much left to do. In 2008, voter registration and turnout was key to our victory, with more than 15 million new voters entering the political process. Now, in 2010, voter registration will be key to ensuring that President Obama has as many congressional allies as possible next year.

And, for us at OFA, that means making the July 17th Day of Action as big as possible.”

Historically voters turn out in mid term elections is very low.  But remember: in 2008, we all committed to CHANGE! And as you know, it did not stop on November 4th, 2008 or on January 20th, 2009.

OFA, that’s us, that’s YOU, OFA is again going to show that we can make a difference.

On June 20th, our Center City East team had an organizational meeting with members of Ward5 and Ward2.

During the summer we plan to do the following:

• Weekly phone banks
• Canvassing of 2008 First Time Voters in Ward 2 to “clean up the lists” in preparation of November 2010 GOTV
• Visibility/Voter Registration events at festivals, rallies and parades
• Blogging on our web site and other sites

What you can do:

• Check frequently for events on MyBo and sign up

You probably are going to get a message from Mitch or Jeremy, or David Plouffe, or even President Obama… but I also wanted you to hear it from me!

I know we will do well in November but we need to get started early. So here is an opportunity to kick off a great campaign aimed at reconnecting with these first time voters of 2008: let’s meet on June 5th at Cianfrani Park, we’ll have some fun, brush up on our canvassing skills, maybe hear a few speakers, maybe do a little phone banking.. I’ll bring some snacks and water and maybe some buttons…, OFA will provide lists and scripts, signs and clipboards.
